II is easier to justify for action footage where 60 frames per second at 8K matters, or for work near rock, sand and other lens hazards. The original already records 8K50 and lists the same internal storage and common runtime. “8K 360” covers a sphere; a flat crop does not automatically contain eight thousand pixels of detail in the chosen area.
What the original already offered
The first generation is not limited to 8K30: its specification lists 8K50. It also advertises 105 GB of internal storage, up to 100 minutes at 8K30 and 120 minutes in an endurance mode. Those figures depend on test conditions, temperature, stabilization and format, so they are not guaranteed travel runtime.
The “one-inch” label also needs context. DJI describes an equivalent imaging area in particular 360 modes, not two physical one-inch sensors. Water resistance alone does not guarantee a perfect underwater stitch; DJI recommends an appropriate diving case.
Kit pricing and regional availability
The Spanish store checked September 28 showed the Osmo 360 II Standard at €589. An indexed campaign mentioned a €339 promotion and €479.99 reference pricing for the original, but opening it redirected to another region and did not confirm a comparable Spanish checkout. Do not subtract those numbers and call it today’s saving.
Compare Standard and Adventure kits, batteries, mounts, memory cards and lens protection. This research did not establish a comparable official US price or stock position, so US readers should check their local DJI store. For occasional use, a discounted original plus protection can be better value.
Keep, upgrade or buy the first model
Keep the Osmo 360 if it covers your trips and the lenses are healthy. Upgrade to II when 8K60 changes your moving subjects or user replacement reduces a real risk.
